I have a Kirby, 2001 Limited Edition, vacuum. It’s not wanting to lift anything. My husband removed the bag and the suction being pushed into the bag seems fine. Seems more like something is wrong with the head of it. The brush turns and there is suction, just not much. It sounds ‘weaker’ than usual as well. I’m use to having to pry it off of the carpet to try to move it….
Any input is greatly appreciated. =}
i just started been there for about two weeks and its starting to bug me how they harrass people and try to force the machine on people the manager is not even professionial he walks around cussing and i cant even get any demos let alone sales so should i quit tommorow

I got a visit from the Kirby salesmen today. I’d never heard of Kirby before, but I wish I had so I could have known to say, "No, I don’t want a free carpet cleaning." But I didn’t, so I sat through the demo. I didn’t buy a vacuum–which is shocking because I hate saying "no"–and wouldn’t settle for any offer they gave me. (I’m actually very proud of myself.) As they left, one of the salesmen was extremely rude to me. In my own home! (I’ve read that’s quite normal for them.)
While they were doing the demo, I asked if the shampoo they were using on my rug was safe for pets (as I have 10 cats) They said yes. But after the rude comment and reading horror stories about Kirby salesmen, I’m wondering how truthful they were. Does anyone out there know if the shampoo they use is safe for pets?

I must have gotten a bad apple salesman, then. They come in all stripes, I suppose…It’s good to hear the opinion of someone who has some experience with the exact cleaning solution used. I greatly appreciate it.
My brother just accepted a job as an kirby vacuum salesman. The thing he told me sounded way too good to be true. They’ll set the appointment for you and all you have to do is schedule 30 visits with ppl and you get 900 bucks per 2wk. You don’t even have to sell one to get the 900 bucks, just get 30 visit and you get the money. If you do sell one you get whatever commission you would get for selling one plus the 900 bucks. I’m not trying to say it is a scam or whatever, but just want to make sure everything is foreals as they say it is. I don’t want him to fall into those kind of tactics and waste his time and energy. Let me know what you guys think.
When I pull it behind me with the hose on (rather than the Carpet Cleaning head) it follows me for a minute or two and then it lies down and I have to go and pick it up. There is plenty of loose cable behind it so I don’t know what is wrong. Also when using the carpet cleaning head on a carpet it pushes the dust, cats hairs and bits of paper in front of it so when I have finished making pretty lines on the carpet I have to get down on my knees and brush up the dust and stuff myself. then I have to go over it again to make those nice lines where I have crawled on the carpet and spoiled them. It all seems a lot of hard work which the cleaner should do, rather than me! Should I send it to the Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Retirement Home or is there some medicine I can give it, maybe it needs a tonic? Its only 3 years old and it cost me more than 00US.

Do any of you own a Kirby Vacuum? If so how much do you like it? Does it clean as well as they say?
I positively need to clean the wall-to-wall carpeting in my apartment and my 5 year old Bissell is not cutting it. Do not get my wrong I loved that vacuum, but am skeptical of it now. It does not pick up all the cat fur that is in the fibers, or the tiny rocks from the liter that the cats (have two) carry between their toes/paws.

Bought a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner yesterday as they claimed it picked up 99.5% of the dirt compared to what’s on today’s market, which picks up 5%. But for those of them who have them at home, did you find them better than what you had previously?
In using it today I was a little disappointed that it tended to push little bits of foods (ie. peas, little pieces of cookie) around on the carpet instead of sucking it up. I had to lift the head of the cleaner and specifically place it over the pieces to get it to suck them up. (I have a baby and toddler that I vacuum up after nearly every meal because not everything makes it to their mouths!)
An hour ago one men was in my home presenting Kirby vacuum cleaner. He said that the price is aproximately 2700$ (i think that is because it was 2270 euros) for my country ( Macedonia).
I would be gratefull if someone could tell me how much money costs in other countries and in USA and what you think about this cleaner ( they who’ve been using for a couple of years).

i thought it was lie!!! Especially when the man said that you can buy only from them, you can’t find it in the store and you can’t contact them to their office – they’ll contact you when you have to give them a payment. And he said it is original product, produced in USA with his own serial number and will work for 40 years or more if you take care.
Have you owned both and which is the best. I have a Kirby, too heavy and repairs are expensive. I have pets so I want to know what is the best of these two vacuums. What has been your experience with good pickup and longevity of these two.

I did some searching on this question and didnt find alot. So from what i did find, I experimented. I found that YES You can use other bags, if they fit. therefore, I took a type U bag as i had one given to me laying around without a use and it is about the same size as a kirby bag. I marked the larger size of the hole and then cut from existing hole to new line, several small cuts like a star pattern so the hole would enlarge and still hold tight. I tried it out and VIOLA! It worked wonderful! Now i can vacuum again!
I have a kirby ultiamte G diamond edition and the shiny metal all over it just dont shine any more like it did when it was new . im not sure if its metal or aluminum etc……… but i just want to know how to make it shine again because it has a ugly dull look to it and just dont look right in my brand new house

I have a Kirby G5 and I don’t understand how to put it on because of the belt and what not.
I had a Rainbow demonstration a few months ago. i was highly impressed but didnt have 00 to purchase a vacuum. Now I have a sales person coming over to show me a kirby. (my cousin keeps sending them my way so she gets free stuff). Two questions… One. If I do decide down the road to buy one, which is a better vacuum for the price? Two. If I know that I am not going to purchase one anytime soon.. should I have just told them not to come or let them come do there thing (it helps my cousin!)? and they offered to shampoo a carpet for free and my living room does need it!!
My husband found this job as appointment setter, he has to set appointments so salesmen can sell the vacuums. He says he has to do a certain amount of appointments a week to get paid 2000 dollars a month. The vacuum cleaner itself sells for 2000dollars. Tomorrow they will give him a vacuum cleaner to bring home and experiment with so he can get to know the product. That right there, scares me, why would they trust him with a 2000 dollar vacuum cleaner
He went to the orientation and had his first day of work. And I don’t know what they are telling him, but I am not feeling it, I want him to quit, I know it’s a scam or a rip off. And I’m so scared we will get attached to something and stuck with debt. We are already struggling and behind with our bills. He has a PT job right now and that’s our only source of income to pay the bills and he seems to be willing to push that job aside to go sell vacuum cleaners, and I’m just here worrying my butt off. I don’t know what to tell him, but I want him to quit and get a real job. But he has been so manipulated.
The reason why I post this is, because I want to hear from other Kirby SELLERS (not buyers) what your experiences are.
And I also want to hear advice on what I can do, as his wife to make him realize that this is not the job he wants.
